Privacy Policy

Last updated August 3, 2026

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how BidChale collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use our auction marketplace as a bidder or vendor. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information — name, email, phone number, and password (stored securely, never in plain text).
  • Bidding and purchase activity — bids placed, lots won, checkout and payment references, delivery or pickup preferences.
  • Vendor payout details — mobile money provider and account number used to receive payouts.
  • Delivery information — pickup or delivery address and location, where applicable.
  • Device and usage data — basic technical information needed to operate and secure the platform.

We do not collect or store mobile money PINs, one-time passwords, or full payment credentials — these are handled directly by our payment processor, Moolre, and your mobile network operator.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate bidding, checkout, and payout on the platform.
  • To communicate with you about bids, wins, payments, and payouts.
  • To arrange delivery through our courier partners.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, including shill bidding and payment abuse.
  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations in Ghana.

4. Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Moolre. When you pay for a won lot or receive a payout, the relevant transaction reference and amount are shared with Moolre to complete the transaction, and Moolre returns confirmation of the payment or transfer to us. We retain transaction references and amounts for accounting and dispute-resolution purposes.

5. Who We Share Information With

  • Moolre, to process payments and vendor payouts.
  • Delivery/courier partners, limited to what is needed to complete a delivery you requested.
  • Vendors or bidders, limited to what is reasonably needed to complete a transaction (e.g. a vendor may see a delivery pickup location).
  • Regulators or law enforcement, where required by Ghanaian law.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. Data Retention

We keep account and transaction records for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet accounting, tax, and dispute-resolution obligations.

7. Your Rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) of Ghana, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, subject to our legitimate need to retain transaction records as described above. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No system is completely secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies needed to keep you signed in and to operate the platform. We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

10. Children's Privacy

BidChale is not directed at, and should not be used by, anyone under the age of 18.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above.
